Lots of singed hair at least. You see when they cut to the wide angle shot of everything burning, it's actually a jump-cut. Time had passed and the fire had plenty of time to spread.
On a similar note, we used to launch aerosols (butane canisters for blow torches) out of clay tubes for fun. We'd put a large pile of weed killer + sugar at the base of the tube (angled at 45 degrees), light it and slide the can down the tube when the fire was going. The pressure within the can would be massive and eventually the base would give resulting in one hell of an explosion and launching the can (usually whole but minus the concave base -that turned convex from the pressure!-) a good hundered feet or so into the air. The clay tubing would rarely survive. Once we couldn't get this can to pop and we didn't want to go back to it so we left it there. About a month later my pal's dad was having a bonfire at the same spot. The can exploded and a brick (full sized london one) was launched about fifty feet, flying past his head.
