I had a neat one. It was sold as an XBOX 360 wireless adapter. Belkin brand. Just like some of their old tiny routers, but with XBOX 360 color scheme. Came with two power options: 1) A regular AC-to-DC power adapter and 2) a dual-USB-to-DC cable. So it could power itself from the PC.

On the XBOX 360, the USB connection wasn't elegant. One USB connector had to power from the front of the game console because the back only has one USB port. I never used it with an XBOX. I only used it to troubleshoot PCs.

I think a lot of those gadgets use ethernet only as an inbound signal. Basically a quick a dirty wifi router from the looks of it. I was specifically looking for something that works in exact opposite. Taking a wireless signal and turning it into ethernet for any device with an ethernet port.

Both of the ones VL linked above are able to connect a non-Wifi device with an ethernet port to a wifi network. One is also capable of working in reverse (as a wifi router).

I had one of these once upon a time, plugged into a switch so my printer and fax machine both had network access.

He was probably thinking of a stick form factor, but that wouldn't work right since it can't power from Ethernet.

If you don't use WPS push-button pairing, my Belkin required me to do this to get it connected to a network:
- Enter manual IP settings on a computer using 192.168.2.x subnet
- Use a web browser to log-in to Belkin setup at http://192.168.2.x
- From the web config UI, pick a network and enter the password.
- Remove manual IP settings and allow DHCP to renew.

It was a pain.

Oh I see. Thanks. Picked up two of the pocket routers. I got the little Eifel tower today and will see how it works. If the pocket routers do the job, I'll probably return the tower. There is no good place to put it/mount it.
