Does this poster scare anyone else?

Found this on another board. Supposedly its a poster found in Britain at a Metro station. It kinda gives me the chills to think people are actually feeling more secure having the government invade themselves into their lives. I mean when does one say enough is enough? When will it end?

This war on terror crap is really starting to scare me, and it aint the terrorists I'm afraid of.....

Government invasion of privacy in the UK is nowhere near the level we have in the US here.

It's just a picture and nothing else to me.

UK is a heavily watched country. I know people from there. Some of the ****** that goes on in the streets of the US would never go on in some parts of the UK. They have cameras everywhere. Some of the camera systems are real interesting. One system has an intercom in the camera and when the police see something wrong in real time they can buzz in onto that street and single that person out. Essentailly telling him/her they are watching them. We need to have that kind of system in the United States. The problem is that we have all of these people bitch and complain about this privacey thing. I don't understand if your not doing anything wrong why should you be so concerned???????

Its the mindset.

To me, I am a law abiding contributing citizen. I am not a rebel youth thats a member of a slobbering uncontrollable mass that needs to be constantly watched and lorded over. You have already bought into the "stupid masses that need controlling" mindset.

It's creepy, but like I said it's nothing compared to what we have here in the US.

All you have to do is read the Patriot Act, read news on wiretapping(controlling in your home by your definition) and the fact that a president can declare any citizen an enemy combatant and hold for years without any trial makes this UK thing look like a joke.

That's not really true... their cop-tv system is just screwed up and same thing goes to the automated speed traps. F that.

Not only are you missing the point, you're spewing quite possibly the lamest justification for invasion of privacy ever. How about next, we chip your head with a little GPS/RFID tech so we can track your every movement? If you're not doing anything wrong, why should you be so concerned?

Speed traps are alive and well in the United States 😉

Like I said, I'm not agreeing to this...I'm just making a comparison.

Just like horror films...
If you've already watched The Exorcist, The Shining, Psycho, Diabolique, Halloween, and numerous others, watching the filth of most horror films released today won't scare you "as much", but you're still "supposed" to be scared.

In some respects I agree with you. But the problem is, who is watching the watchers? Power corrupts.

However, I don't see why anybody should have any expectation of privacy while in a public area (excluding things like restroom stalls and dressing rooms where there is in fact reasonable expectation of privacy).

******, some people.

There are limitations to what is going on in the UK. Yes you have privacey in your own home. I would feel much safer on the street knowing someone is watching the guy behind my back.

In fact you might be correct. We should GPS/RFID chip the heads of parolled criminals, registered sex offenders and prisoners. This will prevent a lot of reoccuring events that these group of people often do again.

Maybe someone should put up pictures of Jean Charles de Menezes right next to those posters, preferably laying dead on the floor of the subway. That will remind people what a bang up job those watchers are doing of protecting society.

And based on what happened to Jean Charles de Menezes, I'd be worried about being confused with the guy behind my back.

Well, at least I know my meter isn't broken, but you're a nutjob!

Er...not really, it would just help you find them after you think they did something. That is disregarding the massive rights violations you would incur by forcing such a privacy destroying non-consensual medical procedure on people (even convicted criminals). Speeding ticket eh? Let?s just plant this chip in your skull so you never speed again!

People like you are why I zealously defend my 2nd Amendment rights along with all the others. The day may well come when once again we have to vote with lead instead of paper.

Then why don't you do something about the Patriot Act? If the Dems seriously lead a charge to repeal the entire thing and the Republicans stood in the way then I would have a difficult time not voting for you on the basis of that alone.

Make it a central issue and you would get it done.

Sadly, too many people in power have his exact mindset 🙁

No, you're not getting it (on numerous levels). Let's start by chipping YOUR head. After all, you're so hot for this sort of invasive surveillance. Let's start with YOU. How does that sound?
