Discussion Does this need some kind of sealer or silicone?

I installed a new faucet. It all works well so far. No leaks. Please excuse the messy counter and dirty mirror.

Should I put some kind of sealer or silicone along the bottom of the faucet's base where it meets the counter?

The plastic hand nuts under each handle (that tighten the whole assembly to the counter) are already as tight as I can get them and there is a foam gasket underneath the base of the faucet but it doesn't go all the way to the edges of the base inside to meet any possible gap between the base and countertop.

I can still see a microscopic gap where light gets through.

You can seal it if it makes you feel better, but don't use silicon seal, it will be a nightmare if you ever have to service the faucet.
