Read in the Nvidia forums that GPU renders can also show the same issues inherent to the 2080 TI. Same clip using a GTX 970 took 9 times longer to render, but it was flawless. Might need to watch it full screen to see all the defects.

Might just be a compatibility issue with whatever you were rendering.

Software I'm using is called iClone. There are a few people using the 2080 TI in the help forums, but no one reported any compatibility issues, just really good performance. Posted the video in their help forum, still waiting for replies.

Perhaps you could underclock the 2080ti just to see if that changes anything?

Is it possible to post the same clip from the 970 render?

Have you tried loading up a game and see if you see any issues?

Thanks guys, reinstalled the 970 and was able to reproduce the same problem. Checked with folks using this software and it's definitely a bug. For some reason, when working on a 4k display and you don't scale the screen so text and UI graphics are enlarged for easier reading, the rendering rate in my case increases by a factor of 3 or more. Complex and fast moving scenes can sometimes come out distorted like that. But sometimes it works out great with no noticeable degradation in quality. Running a test as I type this message on a pretty hairy scene.

Started using this and Cinema 4D with vRay to do storyboards explaining virtually on how new engineering concepts work for my job. My boss really likes the realism of vRay with C4D, but it's such a pain to setup everything. iClone was supposed to release an iRay plug to improve quality this month but delayed it until Q1 of 2019

I was going to try your idea next. Maybe my i7 5630K or 16 GB of DDR4-2400 ram was bottle necking the 2080 TI.

Well, I was actually thinking of bad VRAM or a bad GPU that might work okay at a lower clock speed, but if the 970 does it, then the problem is elsewhere.

The software used above was supposed to release an iRay plugin last month but has delayed it for a couple of months. Decided to try another program called Daz Studio that's actually free, including the iRay plugin. Using the combination of 2 GTX970's and a RTX 2080 ti, video below took just over 41 minutes to render using an iRay renderer. First time using iRay, and I think it's amazing.
