My eyes get screwy (not really blurry) when I look at some monitors for a long time. It had me baffeled for years. I tried low and high refresh rates with no difference. One day I was doing an experiment and I realized that it was the monitors brightness. I moved the brightness up from 10% to 50% and my eyes have been much better.

BTW, LCDs seem to be the worst. (except the one on my new Dell Inspiron 8000) ;)

10%? Holy crap man. I've been on 100% since the beginning on my monitor, any less and my eyes feel like swiss cheese.

Remember that every monitor is different. I had problems with my 14" monitor at 100%. My first 17" was fine at about 15%. My new 17" is good at about 50%. So every monitor is different. It still could be the problem.
