The sounds created when you rub on baloon or styroform with your fingers gives me the chills. I have no idea, but I couldn't be the only one. Does these sound or any particular sound gives you a chill?

Secondly, I'd love to find out why this sound cause this reaction if you know the answer.

Umm, hello??? It's Jerboy, tell us something we didn't already know. ;)

Seriously though it's a very common reaction to that particular sound.

Sounds don't bother me that much. The thought of running your fingernails on a chalkboard bother me more than the sound of it.

That's totally uncalled for and has nothing to do with this topic. You're just asking for a flame war. Be gone.

The sound of fingernails on a chalkboard give me chills.

A balloon rubbing on coarse, dry hair gives me chills.

I've had chills simply from people breaking fingernails, even without me hearing it.

But that balloon on styrofoam does not give me chills.

I get chills from rubbing bare feet on this one carpet in my house - it's really smooth and ehehgggh, i dunno - i'm shivering right now just thinking about it!!

On a related subject.
They say that the reason people react as they do to nails on a chalkboard is because it sounds very similar or is near to the same frequency as the warning call of monkeys when a predator is near.
So it's possibly a throw back to our pre human days.
Maybe the Styrofoam / balloon thing gives off a similar frequency?

styrofoam and balloons don't bother me but the monkey screaming about the chalkboard does...
