I would recommend against getting the Corsair GS series. They are nothing more than a normal PSU with 'gaming' slapped on to give an impression of quality. Also comes with 3 color LED fan that does nothing. Try looking for other Corsair series or try XFX, Seasonic, Silverstone or Antec if you could find.

Get a 650W PSU instead of 600W to give some extra headroom should you decide to overclock the CPU and GPU. Other than that your choice of parts are acceptable.

Thanks, I'll put it a Corsair TX650 v2 instead!
In your opinion will a "cheapo" mobo like the MSI C43 hold me back too much in the future?

Replace Case with ANtec one hundred : cheaper and perfect for your build.
Replace PSU w/ CX600 for cheaper same stuff
AS usual I would advise against MSI(not durable) and for gigabyte instead, and against a GTX580 which will in the end barely outperform an unlocked, 6970-clocked hd6950 that costs 2/3 of the price (barely as in 2 3 % @ 2560x resolutions).
Btw for 50 bucks there are blu-ray combo readers in case you like blu-ray (i don't give a shit about it but hey).

There will be no OC with that PSU and that gfx and no CPU fan - at least no OC worth mentioning, maybe 4.notmuch on the stock cooler if you change the TIM.

No it won't hold you back considering that you're aiming for moderate overclocking only which wouldn't stress the VRM too much. If you're not interested in overclocking at all, an expensive motherboard would only add more features that you might or might not use.

4 DIMM slots, USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s are available on that MSI board and should provide enough connectivity for future expandability.

Again, thanks all.
About the 580: going for a single-card solution I thought "why not going for the best"?
I have a 23'' 1080' 120 Hz monitor from LG that I'll use with for gaming and video watching, and I understand ATI are not that good with 120 Hz if not in DirectX 9.0...

...or I could go with a dual PCI Asrock Extreme4 and start with a 570, planning on adding a second one later...

Go for Z68 Gigabyte should have some for similar price range
IF the HDD is your primary then go for F4 or Caviar Black
you can go for regular G.Skill Ram instead of ripjaw if you want save some money

Z68 mobos are all higher in price, even the Gigabytes it seems.
Yeah, the HDD is my only one atm (plan to add an SSD in the future): isn't F4 a tad slower than F3?

You feel that's the best plan is to change the single gpu or to plan a sli/cf?

Here in US the price difference is not much compared to P67s. Choices are limited though, for example there are 55 P67 vs 22 Z68 at newegg but prices are similar. I was planning to go for H67 + i5-2400 but then switched for Z68 + i5-2500k.

I dont know about the HDD, didnt check, but assumed that F4 was equivalent to Caviar Black and F3 to Blue... but I might be wrong. I am personally, going with Black.

GPU is your personal choice, obviously no single GPU can beat 580 SLI
One possible configuration could be a 560 SLI and a i7-2600k? who knows, the multithreading might come in handy in future games...

Rather than the C43, you can check out the G43 ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER )

Price is only like $10 more

I was gonna get the C43, but for upgrades in the future sake, this one has 2 PCIE slots ( x16, x8 ) so you have some room to do a sli or xfire in the future if you want!

Enjoy your build! Very similar to mine but your GFX card blows mine away =P

The thing is with a SLI/CF capable motherboard is that to actually have the capability to do so would mean that OP should be getting a 850W PSU in advance to accommodate a GTX580 SLI in the future. It is meaningless to spend on a SLI/CF motherboard but have a PSU that is only capable of supporting a single GTX580.

That would be fine if OP is willing to pay more for a better motherboard(Z68), better CPU(Core i7 2600K) and a higher wattage PSU(850W) which would exceed the budget.

OP should continue with what was planned and maybe change the motherboard if the C43 is not good enough. I'm not going to suggest SLI either if OP doesn't want it as less problems to deal with when it comes with games that does not scale properly with multi GPU configuration. Furthermore the newer 28nm GTX600 series should be out soon and it might just make a GTX580 SLI sound silly in terms of performance/watt.

It is difficult to decide between single card and openess to sli/cf (I fancied about Asrock Extreme4 + Corsair 850TX to be ready).

What could be a strong SINGLE GPU mobo?

Thanks all again! :)

Because "the best" costs a lot more than the second best but is only marginally faster.

The C43 is fine, as is the G43. You can also probably find the ASRock P67 Pro3.

You're being really helpful. Maybe I'll stay with C43 + 580 and maybe change the case to a Fractal Design R3.
Could it be too small?

Nope. The GTX580 will fit comfortably in the case considering that it supports cards up to 290mm long.

Tnx!
I've been reading very good things about this Fractal R3 case... It's tempting.

Sooooooo this should be the final build. I swear it's the last time I ask for suggestions, excuse my noobishness (it's my first build). :)

What do you think? At last I opted for a 570, not 580, but for a SLI ready Z68 mobo (we'll see). SSD seem to be still pricey...
