I called the adjuster for United Auto and she told me I have to take it to the places that are their authorized workshops. What am I to say to this lady..they've made things such a burden its like Iam at fault for the accident.

State Farm's a large, reputable company. I'd take up the case with your State Farm claims agent and have your claims agent work everything out with her insurance company. State Farm should be able to send an adjuster out, give you an offer, and you can get it fixed. Then they'll go after United Auto for their money back.

You should have no contact with the other party or their insurance company or their adjuster. The United Auto adjuster is lying to you because she thinks you're stupid. You want to know why she thinks you're stupid? It's because you're talking to her instead of your insurance company. Do as jaedaliu suggests and simply call your insurance company and let them handle all the headaches. You pay your insurance company - let them earn it and do all the leg work. Stop calling the other people.

If you are trying to get the estimates as high as possible, tell the repair shops INSURANCE is paying for it. They will generally quote about 30% LESS if you tell them you/they are paying for it out of pocket.

Get her insurance to pay you, then do what you want with the money.

That sounds low. When I got hit, the other dude's insurance (Geico) rolled off a whole list of recommended places, but I took it to a reputable body shop that belonged to my boyfriend's uncle's friend. I also visited him and told him my situation. He assured me that he'd fight for NEW authentic Nissan parts for my Nissan '05 Sentra. Geico tried to stick me with AFTER MARKET parts, and I had to go all the way up through the adjusters supervisor just to have him tell me the same crap the adjuster did... "after market parts are the same as authentic nissan parts... just made in Taiwan. Sheet metal is sheet Metal." After harassing him myself AND having the body shop help me harass him because of course, they get part of the check for labor, I finally got my authentic parts. I got upset at Geico and asked if they would dare attempt to put AFTER MARKET parts if my car was an '05 BMW that got hit and he said 'yes' because it's their policy. That's BS. They're just trying to save money. Stick up for yourself. Insurance companies are bullies!

I had thought about taking it to the dealership to get it repaired because it was so new, but I would've had to wait at the dealership for nearly a month to get my car back. With the body shop I went to, it only took 2 weeks and the customer service is near perfect. I hate the customer service of the dealership I bought my car from.

After I picked my car up from the body shop, I noticed that my steering wheel was messed up still, took it back to the body shop and they found out that the axle was near broken? Anyways, they went after Geico again linking it to the accident, forced the adjuster to come back out to approve of the damages and I was on my way. Fighting them to pay my 2nd rental when I found out about the axle took months though. Grrr. I finally got my rental deposit back. Those SOBs =p

Fight, fight, fight!
