does this change your perspective

Recently at another forum someone posted something that was interesting.

The discussion was on Music, and Eric Clapton. Now this I'll just use this for an example.

The song "Layla" was written about George Harrison's wife whom Clapton had an affair with.

The OP went on to say that that they used to like his music until they learnt of the meaning behind the song.

Another person also mentioned that he didn't like how Eric was capitalizing on his sons death with the making and release of "Tears in Heaven." This I can some what sympathize with, but at the same time my thoughts are he is a artist, a musician and this is how he deal with recovering from a loss. It just so happen he's already well known and the song was so beautifully done it was also a hit.

I think the same can be applied to Phil Collin, I think it was, who wrote that song after his father died.

So my question is, when you hear rumors or fact about artists you already are fond of, does this change your perspective on the musician/band member?

For me not really. They are only human. Unless of course it was extreme and even then I'd think it was just a shame. It wouldn't alter my taste in that specific artist.

Doesnt change my opinions.
Even of the Dixies...But why didnt George ever write a song about Eric, could have been good.

Why can't anyone around here form proper sentences?

happens when youre at work, people are talking to you while you type while not looking and then dont proof read. Ill edit it just for you but the grammER stays 😛

Makes no difference to me, either.

And I believe you mean Mike and the Mechanics who released the song after his father dying.

The only time it really made a difference was when I watched the Behind the Music for Creed. After that, their music was NOT enjoyable to listen to.

The only thing that really changes my perspective is when the band starts making really bad music for no reason, ala Metallica.

Mike and the Mechanics!!! All I remember was a fat, chuby dude, I thought it was Phil 😉

Want to elaborate on Creed.

I never liked them myself because I once heard an interview with them. They went on to say that they think bands who title their album with the same title as their first release, are lazy bands and they have no respect for them. pffft whatever!

There's a reson: losing the only creative and non-sellout member . . .

joining with the RIAA . . .
. . . and then suing their fans. 😛

I listen to the music and try to avoid behind the music. 😉
