Does this bother you ?

Does it bother you when you are talking about an issue with someone, and then all of the sudden religion creeps into it, and you are like totally turned off from talking to that person? Maybe I'm just being weird, but its like every single time I talk to certain people, they use their religion as an excuse. Whatever.

Ditto. 😛

My brother didn't make you guys say anyting.

Yup, especially this idiotic religious guy who is somehow quite good with computers, but for some reason decided to take physics class (high school), and it seemed his only purpose there was to ridicule physics, especially when we got to topics like the Big Bang. Really made me look at him differently

For example, my friend and I were talking about abortion the other day, and he was like "How do you think Jesus would feel if he knew you killed an innocent life" and I was just like who the **** cares what he thinks, dont pull the "wwjd" wild card to try and make me conform into a perfect lifestyle. Im sorry I dont live by your guidelines, just dont force it down my throat.

I said the Devil, not Richard Simmons (although the two get confused for each other many times).

Its not like Im openly anti-religion, and I dont proclaim it, but it bothers me when religious people try to cram their hogwash down your throat at every turn. They use their religion as an excuse to everything they cant/dont want to/ explain.

Well, what do you expect when they teach theory, that's right, theory, as fact.

I expect him to stfu and listen. If he doesn't like or believe it, good for him. We're in the class to learn physics, that includes factual information as well as theories based on facts. If I wanted his religious beliefs, I'd enroll myself in some religious school somewhere.

Yeah, there were a sick amount of those people in the dorm I lived in my freshman year. I'd have to bolt through the lobby for fear of being thumped by a bible. I think the thing that pissed me off the most was how these folks used the bible as their source for everything. "The bible says this... the bible says that....In Job 23:42:12.093 beta revision 2 King James Jr. it says....". To me the bible is just like Aesop's Fables or Grimm's Fairy Tales. Furthermore, it boggles my mind how two people of the same faith...same church even can be so different in their arguments. The way I figure, when you're in an academic setting like college, you really shouldn't pull religion into your arguments (I'm not talking about just abortion, or sex). Two guys I know, one's religious but considerate of what others consider valid resources for arguments, the other just thumps bibles all day long. Guess who I liked to debate with more.

you think you have it rough? My mom is one of those religion-at-every-turn people. She can't go 10 words without mentioning God or Jesus or the Bible. I am to the point where I despise talking to her simply because she yammers on and on about religion.

I asked her one time what she thought about a job I was thinking about taking. Her response? "Well, do you think that Jesus would do it? Will it please God?" I wanted to run away.

I hate when people spew religion all the time.

I personally love it when people who bring up religion everywhere don't practice what they preach.
Like there was this guy on my hall who was really into his religion and into Jesus and whatnot. He was cool enough not to try to force us into his way of thinking. But he did ask me on a couple of occasions not to use the lord's name in vain. I tried to respecthis request, but it's just habit. But the funny thing is he would constantly have sex with his girlfriend (can't say I blame him, she was hot!!). But I tried to explain to him that whole premarital sex thing, but he wouldn't correct his evil ways. Of course I was just trying to replace him as the person screwing his girlfriend, damn she was hot.

Hypocrasy.. I see this all the time. Your point about the girlfriend is exactly what I mean. Dont tell me its bad to do something and then turn around and do something much worse and the pretend to be all holy, thats just plain idiocy..

Good point traashman.

I respect other people's beliefs and I expect others to respect mine. By the same token, I don't try to cram my beliefs down other's throats, and I resent it when others try to cram their beliefs down mine. I'd rather just walk away when they try.....-kd5-

That happens a lot.
Not only with religion but also when people start to talk about weapons.

Yawp. I think the two should be kept separate...just cuz it always gives me an icky feeling trying to talk about the two together (science and religion)
