Does the Voodoo5 use the MiniGL drivers or not? Does anyone out there know?

My friend has a Voodoo5 (ABIT mobo, 500mhz, 128 RAM) and is trying to play Half-Life using the MiniGL driver (3dfxgl.dll), but it keeps saying that the 'video mode is not supported'.

If he uses WickedGL, it does the same thing. This is strange because of two things:

1) In Quake1, WickedGL runs fine when named OpenGl32.dll.
2) Before he formatted his computer, he WAS able to play Half-Life with the MiniGL (3dfxgl.dll) and the Voodoo5. This must have been because he upgraded from a Voodoo3 -> Voodoo5 and there was some stuff mixed up between the drivers?

Just using the 'default Opengl' setting in Half_life yields extremely poor FPS. We are talking about nothing higher than 50. Most of the time it's in the 30's.

We can't figure it out. !H E L P!

No the V5 doesn't use Mini-GL

It has it's own OpenGL ICD.

You don't need WickedGL or the MiniGL drivers.

The V3/V4/V5 have full OpenGL ICDs and don't need the Wicked GL or MiniGL drivers. Set all OpenGL games to "default" and uninstall any additional 3rd party drivers you have installed for your video card. Only 3dfx's drivers are needed.

hey guys, the 5500 can use the miniGL or the wickedGL

bigtime performance increase in MDK2 using the wickedGL with the "force compressed textures" option

pretty cool. We're talking about 20 fps here

the miniGL does a bit better in CS also.
