Does the Volcano II SUCK?

No, I think the fan is mounted to blow!!! Hehe, actually they are pretty cheap per performance, but I'd recommend something else for overclockers...

I second that. I bought one just to just cause I was too impatient to see wether that fan rating was BS (it is by the way). The bottom of the heatsink is not anywhere close to smooth. It would take a LOT of lapping before I would actually strap one of those to my processor. For an overclocker I would suggest the Taisol CGK742092 for a good price to performance ratio. I also am a big fan of the Alpha's although they are a little more pricy.

Yes, the Alpha, especially with a Delta Fan, keeps the processor cooler than any other "air cooling" setup.

Then again, you can check overclockers.com where they put a 90CFM hairdryer on a heatsink to see how well it worked.

Extreme Heatsink Testing

My take is that anything over 33 CFM does not gain you much. Ooooh. 38 CFM gets you an extra 0.3 degrees C. Like that is really going to help all that much. Heck, the ambiant temperature fluctuates by that much. That is why I perfer larger fans that are quieter.
