Does the Superflower Fanmaster vary from 0-12V or 7-12V?

Theoretically it should be possible to detect the polarity reversal as the fan rotates, but I don't know if anyone actually does that.
 
I screwed up. I must be blind. The headers DO have all three pins. 😱 Sorry about that. I edited my post accordingly. ME<--What a dumbass.

But the voltage question still stands. 😀
 
0 to 12V would be useless because no 12V fan will start/run on less than 6V or so
Unless you can find otherwise, it is likely that the pots are normal 0-100 ohm linear units which, if placed in series with the fan, would vary the voltage on most from about 6V to 12V as the 12V fans normally are up to ~100 ohms internal resistance.

Mini Review (in case you missed it), and per the reviewer, they are ~5-12 volt

I find my Sunbeam (with this ability) very uisefull and not all all useless. When I want to turn my fans off (I almost never need to run all my fans all the time) it is very usefull to be able to turn them completely off. Not just somewhat off. My fans don't get to spinning until the knob is at about 5-7 volts, but I assume they are still getting power, just not enough to turn the motor. I can't imagine that being good for the fans. Oh, and my CCFL is also on the Sunbeam. I don't think somewhat off is good for them either.

It is a very nice unit and I am wondering about the importance of 0-12 vs 5-12v...

I don't have that many fans (CUbe case left and right side: left side 92 in front, 92 on CPU, maybe reinstall my slot fan...on the right i have two 80mm blowing out in the rear and two fans on the PSU unit)

I don't really need to turn down any fans all the way off...just lower and to have some control over them...i would control the CPU, Front left, the two rear fans....and read temps from each loaction as there are 4 temp readings

On the PSU i will either put 2 temp sensing fans (smart fans) in there or look for a quieter PSU...besides my NB fan which is loud and soon to be replaced by a Zalman heatsink, theyare the loudest, and I am not even using all he juice

Abit KT7RAID with 1.0Ghx OCed to 1.0GHz.

Any suggestions?
