Does the state of California prove Liberals don't have a clue??

Obviously you are a liar because if you were to have actually studied the "Economic and Social Status" of California you'd know that Northern California is the "Liberal Bastion" of the state. We also have more registereed Republicans that just about any other state in the country with both Orange County and San Diego being extreme;ly conservative and in Southern California (opps, there goes your bald faced lie about Southern Ca being Liberal)

In truth California is just a microcosm of the US except with great weather. Having such a large population and economy, the state is as diverse as the Eastern Seaboard of the US. When things are going good for the whole US Economy California always leads the country in prosperity and when the US Economy goes into the dumper like it is now, Ca suffers along with the rest of the country.

Your not very bright are you? Just another idiotic left wing nut job who resorts to calling people names when they are challenged.. Its alright though, I know your kind and I only have pity for you.. I just wish your kind wouldn't be allowed in power to F it up for the rest of us 🙁

I'd say that I'm much brighter than you but then that's not saying much. I also don't need the pity of the mentally chalenged envy merchants. I called you a liar and I'm sticking by it. To me it's obvious that the only thing you know about California is what you heard in Rush Limbuagh's Radio Program.

BTW, I'm not a Liberal but I am a Californian.

I am bashing liberals. I hate what they have done to your beautiful state. I myself am more of a democrat then republican but unfortunatly the only people you see anywhere on TV are left wing fools who shouldn't be allowed into the democratic party.

Glad to see the N Cali man is here. 😀

I was weakly attempting to "hold your 'place' " 'till you showed up. 😉

Now I can drop out of this ridiculous thread by people clueless about Cali who just like to spout off homegrown "wisdom" (like me too - but EVEN MORE clueless).

Your not a Liberal? BS. I've read many of your post before and you sir are as nutty as they come.. You and Ol' Ted Kaczynski probably shared a shack up in the mountains together for a while.
And I have never listened to any Rush Limbaugh or anyone like him. He's right up there with Jon Ashcroft to me.. Wanna be Nazi's.

Thats so true, but I think the not-so-good stuff is getting out of hand.

Yes and it is getting to expensive as well. My wifes company in the process of closing its California offices. It can hire 3 people in Texas for the price of a single employee in California.

How long do you think those companies will stick around when they can go a little further south to Mexico and not have to put up with all your crap....

Sounds like TX . . . except for the high taxes part . . . then again schools are REALLY crappy, crime is REALLY bad, but they are making plenty of money from high oil prices.

Just so you know,Texas still has an oil industry, but it has not been the center of the Texas economy for at least 20 years.

The cost of housing in Markets like San Francisco and the adjoining areas Skyrocketed during the Silicon Valley Boom of the 90's. It became so bad that many of us had to move to find affordable housing. Of course that had nothing to do with the politics and more to do with low Vacancy rates. It was a prime example of Capitalisms Supply and Demand.

Last time . . . I promise. And you can hire 3 Mexicans for the price of one Texan . . . and 3 Chinese for the price of a Mexican. It's a global economy and California IS finding way to compete.

Cali is OVERpopulated. That alone brings major challenges. However, it is still dynamic & resiliant - just as the rest of the USA is. it is also attempting to work on the air-pollution problems at the same time as cutting budgets - gas prices are generally around $2.25 a gallon as the oil cos gouge us.

Haven't you noticed, ALL the states are in some kind of crisis? 😉

Cali is just the leading state with the biggest population, biggest economy, and - yes, logically - biggest problems.

aloha . . . really 🙂

That is without a doubt part of it. But to say only supply and demand and not poltics would not be true. The cost of building new is much higher because of the environmental regulations. Calfornia also sets aside more green areas, this shrinks supply and drives up prices.

Yes, it is ranked 7th or 8th. Texas is usually right behind California. I am willing to be most of our states ranked decently when compared to most countries populations.

That's not the case because if it were then the cost of housing would be astronomical throughout the state and it isn't.

Your "in-depth-analysis

What are you talking about? I never said I was giving an in-depth-analysis, I was just pointing out some of the problems that I thought CA has.

BTW Im not anti CA there are many nice thing about the state.

It is around population centers. Around population centers you can have a short commute and live in a shack you cant afford, or find something you can afford and have a 1-2 hours one way commute.

Yes California has alot of plus, but the negatives are starting to negate all the pluses.

The deficits some states are facing, including the federal deficit, are caused by huge tax cuts that were pushed through by conservatives while their economies were growing.

Buddha, Bush is trying to push through another huge tax cut with a war on the horizon.

Around Population centers like the Bay Area, Land for housing is sparse and the added taxes for that land is used for building Freeways and schools to support the dense population. Even with those added taxes the Freeways still don't meet the demand as the commute is horrendous. Also, those who own the land are reaping the benefits and making a killing. My Ex Wife?s Family owned a couple of Farms in the Evergreen Area in San Jose (Right across from) the Mirassou Winery for 50 years and just sold it 5 years ago and made a mint because Land zoned for Housing is sparse. In addition, the reason they have areas not zoned for housing is due to the environmental impact it would have on the area. If they would allow those areas to be built up the Congestion on the freeways would be worse than LA, the Water Supplies would be exhausted, the Air pollution would be horrible (worse than it already is) plus the refuse situation would be even worse than it is now.

Unfortuantely that's true, especially in the large population centers.

Hey y'all nice debate going so far, being from california i'd like to put my little 2 cents in this

first off, i just want to say what all my psych profs have told me, correlation does not necessarily mean causation, just b/c A is connected to B doesn't mean A caused B =) (UC education-one of the few things i picked up).

Liberals and Republicans can account for CA's recent mishaps. Orange County, the most conservative county in the state was bankrupt a decade or so ago, but they manage to pull through. (he wasn't relelected, i think he was imprisoned i dont remember what happened to the dude)

CA has been doing well just recently b/c of recent policies it has been a little rough, but CA does still remain one of the highest populated state in the nation, it could be the weather, but if you're from CA you know northern CA's weather is totally different from southern CA's weather so that can't totally be it, maybe its the job market? i don't really know i dont have an answer for ya... well just my little defense on CA its its whack policies right now.

Yes, you can tell because the center of the computer industry is here, we have the world's 5th largest economy, provide roughly half the food for the nation, build most commercial airlines, have the UC school system....

Yeah, what a lousy state. You're in Iowa, huh? Don't you have some cows to feed or something?

Lol, you just proved my point for me.. You have all that yet you have a massive deficit, crappy schools, high crime, your taxed up the ass and its only gonna get worse.. You are right about the UC Universities though. They are some of ther best in the country..

Have you ever lived there? Then shut up, you don't know what you are talking about.

I have. I can vouche for him.
