Does the Sony CLIE PEG-NR70 charge through the USB cable?

My mom conveniently lost the AC Adapter for the Sony CLIE PEG-NR70V/U. Will it charge through the USB cable when it's sitting on the cradle? I don't want to have to install everything to find out, because she hasn't used it and I just want to sell it.

No, I don't believe so since my own PEG-TJ37 won't do that without the AC adaptor. But yours might be different.

Sony's NR/NZ line of PDAs were so cool. I had 2 of them and they were just awesome.

Some USB cables do charge, some don't. You'd have to use a USB 2.0 port if the cable supports it.

I have the CLIE PEG-NX70V, which is the next model up from the NR. It does not charge in the cradle alone without the power cord attached to the cradle. I can sync it through the USB without charging up the battery when it's disconnected. (In order to extend my battery life, I purposely tried to use the unit down to <20% before charging).

I don't know if this is exactly the same case as the NR, but they are very similar units. Hope this helps.

Nope, it will not charge through the cradle. You need to plug in power adapter to the cradle or better yet get a sync and charge usb cable from a 3rd party vendor.

You could sell it as is. If it has no charge, anything that was stored on it is gone.

I have one of those sitting in a drawer at home. It was a pretty sweet pda when it came out.
