Quality:
Worst: Coaxial Cable
2nd: Composite (single RCA) Cable
3rd: S-Video Cable
Best: Component (3x RCA) cables.

S-Video is much better than Coax.

Uhm... There is no sound signal carried by the S-video cable. And yes the Video quality will be better when using S-video.

Only coaxial transfers both.

S-Video is only picture and does picture much better than Coax. You'll have to get separate sound cables, which will also be much better than the sound through Coax.

For sound you can get either 2 RCA cables to the Aux input of your TV.
If it has Aux video inputs it should have Aux audio inputs as well.

That's just for basic 2 channel sound.

Or you can get digital sound with a proper decoder.

Or if your video or tv has a scart contact (most do) you can buy a contact that will provide S-VHS, composite and sound connectors...

I have my DVD hooked to my TV in both ways and I will say that there is a distinct improvement going from coaxial to S-video.
