Can the Recovery Windows XP CD be install on other systems? It depends on the cd. My old win95 recovery disk for an HP Pavillion could only be installed on that machine with the cd drive that came with the machine. If it's just WinXP can be loaded anywhere but theoretically only on one machine at a time. NO?

a lot of "recovery CDs" only work with the brand of computer they came on or with a specific piece of hardware... they'll check BIOSes and things like that... i'm not sure whether that is outside the license or not, though... usually if you delete a product from the computer you can use it on another (partitionmagic you can't, contractually)

i have bought a laptop and it comes with a recovery disc. I use it in my DESKTOP and suprisingly it work and installed. But its said that I have 30 days to register the product. Have anyone has any information about this? Would it forbid me or what would happen?

Thanks

That is product activation and it is there to prevent exactly what you are doing. After 30 days the desktop OS will cease to work without activation and if you try to activate it will fail that as well since there is already a copy activated on the laptop.

Ok, roger that..

actually, I have the opportunity to buy an OEM version very cheap. But would i face problem when i tried to install it on a new system? I am not sure it is already activated or not. I just know that its OEM version.

Can i buy it and install it in my system?>

Yes. You will still need to activate but as long as you are buying a legit unused copy you can activate it with no problem.
