Does the Radeon9000 have...?

Does the new Radeon 9000 feature the MPEG2 encoding? Video-enhancing (blurry instead of blocky) of web-video?
And other R9700 enhancements?

I don't need the speed of the 9700, but I could really justify the video enhancements!!

Nope, the 9000 is based on the radeon 8500 core !

the low end of the new core is the 9500 and i think it supports mpeg2 coding ! But im not sure !!!!

Update time. ATI has a really good interactive demo online.... slow loading though.

Yes, the 9000 DOES support all the new features, like improved (it was already awesome!) DVD playback, improved web-video, lower DVD CPU usage and more.

The 9000 is my aim.... wonder when I can buy one? Especially in Canada.... you'd think ATI being Canadian it would be available HERE first!

BTW: The 9000 is the new R250 core. The 9700 is the R300 core.
Edit2: wOOt! Some third party makers are even outfitting the 9000 with a passive heatsink rather than noisy fan!!

Edit: thats in American dollars, the one from canadian computer is probably in canadian dollars, the reason for the high price.

Doesn't say anything about MPEG encoding, which AFAICT is only applicable as a feature of the
Videoshader technology being introduced with the 9700.

And of course (in typical ATI style) you won't see the real mouth-watering video enhancements until they announce
an All-In-Wonder card based on the Radeon 9700, which (supposedly) will also include other features provided by
the new Theatre 2.0 video processing chip. (just speculation on my part).
