Jeez, it's like the horse is more important than the human fvcking being. Fines? Maybe. Taking the horses away? Definitely. Jail time? Hell no. Bread and water?? Christ, gimme a BREAK.
It's not like she was sitting out there with a cattle prod and baseball bat beating the hell out of the horses every day.
Animals are more important than many human beings.
 Even the worst of the worst of the worst of human beings are more important BY FAR than animals.
Do you have a pet dog or cat? Would you kill it to feed 5 Africans who would have otherwise died?

while not agreeing with FFMCobalt's original intent, I will kill any "animals" to save any "human being."

now, if you get to the point where you substitute "animals" with exotics like Siberian Tiger and American Bald Eagle and "human being" with "that murdering scumbag rapist" then things will get tricky.

Wow. I wouldn't even kill my dog if he was a 5 billion pound animal that could feed all of a starving distant country (Iraq/China/Africa).

If it came down to a choice between saving my dog and saving, oh, Bin Laden, for example, I'd save my dog and let Bin Laden rot.

So that one guy that killed and raped over 100 kids is more important than seeing eye dogs or water rescue dogs?

If your dog ever gets to be 5 billion pounds, I demand pics from space.

Yes, but you're judging the weight of their usefulness instead of the value of human life and their potential, etc. blah blah blah.

In terms of the original post, this is definitely a little odd as punishment, but I guess I get what the judge was after. The Navy allows bread and water as a form of nonjudicial punishment, and I think it makes sense in that context, because unlike some other punishments (loss of rank, forfeitures of pay) it only punishes the accused, and not his dependents.

3 days is NOTHING. However, I like this sentencing because it shows the public that animal cruelty can lead to harsh punishments.

This sentencing is weak, considering the judge should have starved her sorry a$$ for 3 days instead. What goes around, comes around biatch! ;):D

Sounds fitting to me. I would have advocated a logner sentence of this diet, but the judge was probably worried what implications the 8th amendment would bring to the table. Anyway, I am always a sucker for those punishments tailored to the crime stories. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy. :D

(And I've lived off bread and water alone for more than 3 days, it's neither cruel nor unusual IMHO, just bland)

He just talks like this on the internet.

I garauntee if put in a hypothetical situation where he could either save his pet of 10 years, or a 10 time convicted child-rapist, who shows no regret in his actions, and would probably continue his crimes, he would choose his pet. Of course, it's noble to act like you judge based on mere being, but it's stupid, and never happens.

What's noble about pretending the unwashed masses carry any special significance? That's not his reasoning anyway, he's covering his own ass since he's a pretty low form of life.
