Does the Pioneer DVR-108 support overburn?

I may very well be wrong, but i don't think you can overburn DVD-/+Rs.

Also, i am pretty sure it's the software that determines whether or not you can overburn (Roxio cannot; Nero can, e.g.).

It just occurred to me that perhaps you were wondering if that burner can burn the DVD-/+Rs faster than their rated speed (not store more data).
Can you clarify the question?

Ok I just bought the Pioneer 108 today, so care a lot about overbuning DVD's. I heard that the DVR-108 supports DVD overburing, but after reading this review it doesn't. So I would like to know if anyone has tried to overburn DVDs with this drive?

I don't have any DVDs to do the test 🙂

I checked the DVD info and I have version 1.17, so you think by updating the firmware I can overburn DVDs with this drive?

Overburn on DVD isn't the same as CD. Even if your DVD burner can do overburn, chances are the DVD media will crap out. Just keep the total size under 4484MB. Well, you could try 4500MB, but it's risky and might kill your DVD burner, so it's your choice really.

I don't think you understand what overburns means. DVD has 4.37gb I want to add more space, that's called overburning.

What's the deal with overburning anyway? Do CDs and DVDs not have a track? Does the writer make its own track? I don't see any other way you can fit more than the specified amount of data on a disc.
