Does the phrase "It's Black and White" assume that black is wrong?

I just a commercial. One of those NBC public service things. It was saying how there are two things: Right and Wrong. So your choice is black and white.

So is this making the assumption that Black(Darkness) would be wrong? If so, does this bother those of you who are African American? Does it bother those of you who think phrases like these should be removed to avoid someone taking it the wrong way?

It is just a question. I just want to know how people view. If you have nothing to say. Don't post.

Nope, I ALWAYS presumed that it meant that black was the wrong or evil choice, because we ALL know white is pure...and the good guys wear white hats...
Nope, I'm more bothered by phrases like "Fair and Balanced" by a news site that obviously isn't...;)

You should take your own advice. You aren't saying much yourself.

Why not?

Exactly. I am just wondering how people view it. There are extreme African Americans who would use this as a point to prove the existence of oppresion toward African Americans.

In some visual binary encodings, a 0 is represented by black, and 1 is represented by white. 1>0 so white is greater than black. OH NOES RACIST BINARY ENCODINGS!

Lol. While funny, people do view things this way. Which I think is pretty sad. :(

black and white refers more to clear cut, without really attaching right/wrong to either.

no....the phrase represents contrast/ ease of choice. It doesn't put one color over the other.

Right and Wrong. Black and White. Obviously Right correlates with Black (the first word), and Wrong correlates with White (the last word)

Doing it the other way implies that's how you actually feel about it, because you have to think about it and switch the matching terms instead.

Black and white means there is a sharp demarcation between two sides, no gray area or middle ground.

Black and White just means two unique distinctions.
When people say something isn't black and white, it just means that that "something" whether it be a law, choice, etc isn't so clear cut.

It has nothing to do with right or wrong.

Don't bring obviousness, logic and sense into this thread!

Black and white isn't about right and wrong.. It's saying that two things are different. Like when someone says "I put new tires on my car and the difference is black and white".
