Quick reply. Problem solved, thread terminated.
I can't quote to the quick reply box :)

Yup. There needs to be a button on every post that sends the context of that post down to the quick-reply box with the proper formatting so that the quote shows up including "originally posted by" blah blah blah... like how they look now. Basically so you can't tell the difference between who's using quick-quote and who's actually clicking the quote button that loads the new page like the reply box.

I bet your using a 4Ghz machine with 2 gigs of RAM and the reply box would open in 3 nanoseconds.

And yet you can't wait 3 nanoseconds to get proper formatting so sad.

Have you ever tried quoting more than one person in a single post so that you don't have to keep wasting post after post? Consolidation is a good thing. Here's what I have to do:

Click quote.

Highlight and copy the entire contents of the text box in the window that pops up.

Close the window.

Scroll down to the next guy I want to reply to, click quote.

Paste in the previously copied contents, make sure there's a couple blank lines between the quotes so I don't get them mixed up, then highlight it all again and copy it again.

Close the window

scroll down tot he next guy I want to reply to, click quote.

Paste in the previously copied contents, make sure there's a couple blank lines between the quotes so I don't get them mixed up, then go back through and reply to each quote.

*sigh*

I want to scroll through a thread, see a post I want to reply to, click "quick-quote" or something like that, then keep reading... read... read read read... find another one to reply to in that same thread, click "quick-quote" again... read read read... click "quick-quote" again on another post I want to reply to.

Then I just scroll to the bottom of the thread where the quick-reply window is and *gasp* VOILA! There they are! I just place my cursor under the first quote and dump in my reply, then scroll down to the next quote, etc.

:)

Think outside the box, duder.

Edit: the computer I'm on is a Toughbook CF-50. I'll let you figure out the specs.

That would be an amazing feature.

Yes, it would. Too bad Invision Power Board already uses it. :p Or, rather, there are on/off buttons next to each reply. You "turn the button on" for however many posts you want to quote and, when you click the reply button, the posts are properly parsed and quoted waiting for you to inject your replies.

:)

See, this is basically the attitude that FAILING companies have. FuseTalk is a COMPANY. They're out to make money. If they don't listen to their customers and conform according to what their customers need, they're going to lose their customer base. If nobody wants the features that FuseTalk is offering, and everybody wants features that FuseTalk is not offering, FuseTalk is going to have zero customers while everybody else uses software that does what they want it to do.

You can't just say "if you don't like it, tough" in this situation because FuseTalk's entire existance, like any other company's, depends on their response to the needs and wants of their customers!

Does FuseTalk own this site? If there is a problem with the forums then sorry to say it's not FuseTalk's fault because this forum does not have to use their software. People bash FuseTalk on this site like they are paying customers. Since when does AnandTech have a membership fee?

I don't see why it matters what the reply window looks like. As long as it has the features I need, it doesn't bother me. :)

I think people get frustrated when things are running well, then all of a sudden there's an 'upgrade' and all the good features are gone and then new problems pop up.

Funny you should say that. For a while there was a subscription service where you could pay for better features and faster access, blah blah blah, but that has since been done away with. I don't know how far in advance you subscribe, but I guess it's conceivable that there are still paying members on these boards.

Does anyone still have a subscription that hasn't run out yet?

I still hate how it puts your curser in the message title box rather than in the reply box.
