I recently bought a few Memorex 8x dvds to backup some data but I can't seem to get more than 4x when burning disks.

Anyone ever had this problem before?

i got the NEC 2510A dvdburner too:)
i was having the same problems befor i upgraded the firmware..

update it wiht henrie's firmware and you got your self a kickass burner
"it will even burn some 4x speed at 8x"
Henrie's got everything you need
( if you dont mind using Modified Firmware )

you can also find Original and More Modified Firmware's Hear

im using the "2xx0v3-2" ( its a modified one )

good luck

It wouldn't hurt to make sure the drive's in UDMA mode. I've found that Windows likes to default to PIO mode for optical drives.
