What is up with motorola, been reading several posts across the web and customers are not happy with the 2nd gen X.
Can anyone shed info on the 2nd gen LTE/bw issues?

They disabled LTE bands for outside of USA.
The Pure Edition will only work with LTE in the USA on t-mobile and att. So everyone outside of the USA and people who travel frequently are annoyed.

You can still get 3g if traveling outside the US.

According to the reads, the Pure Edition does not have LTE in the states, only the ATT branded phone.

no it does not bother me, use of a mobile phone when traveling internationally (which i don't do often) is not of a concern

Did you even read the links you posted? If anything it's missing band 5, which is a domestic ATT band but not a widely used one from what I see. It still has the main 3 bands to work in the US.

Yeah, considering the iPhone has gone from 5 (5) to 11 (5s) to 20 (6/6+) bands, its kinda disappointing we don't have many Android phones that are good global phones. Z3/Z3c is the exception.

Oneplus has most worldwide LTE bands. Good for me as I swap between US and Europe. That is one benefit over the Nexus lines where they make a US and international edition.

One plus
FDD LTE:
700 (band 17), 1700/2100 (band 4), 1800 (band 3), 2100 (band 1), 2600 (band 7) MHz
TDD LTE:
2300 (band 40), 2600 (band 38) MHz

Yeah OnePlus does a pretty good job although it lacks some AT&T bands that may be critical moving forward. However the iPhone does it again by raising the bar with # of LTE bands, so it'd be interesting to see if we start getting more phones that can roam the US, Europe and Asia.

I suspect OnePlus could've been a better global phone by excluding the China TDD bands.

I don't understand why the phone manufacturers don't offer more bands in their phones?

more radio bands also means more power drain. It's the reason why verizon's phones generally have a shorter battery life compared to a similar phone on say t-mobile.
