I like Stevie Knicks (sp?) myself, at least on Rumors, heard she lost her voice, though

Damn, she can sing! My Immortal gives me chills every time.

for a rock singer, she is unusually talented, compared to her modern/pop rock peers like gwen stefani, and that girl from that one ska band.

From what I've heard on the radio, it's a little too dramatic. I would say "no"

Mariah carey has a better voice then she does, although her choice of material to sing really holds her back. She has sung some really beautiful songs, though they've never been released as a single.

Hardly.

But now that you've found out you like this type of music, its time to move on to the good stuff: Nightwish.

Seriously, Evanescence to Nightwish is like...The National Enquirer to The Economist.

I am a big fan of how her voice sounds in my immortal. It is not operatic and almost seems harsh at first (at least to me) but after listening to her cd a few times it really has grown on me.

I could not even begin to understand why people would think she has the best female voice. To me it sounds too strained and forced; somewhat unnatural.

The best female vocalist I can think of is Sarah Brightman, but then again she is just so far above and beyond most vocalists Sarah Brightman is in a whole different realm.

That is a really strong accent, it will take some getting used to.

Sarah Brightman is a soprano. We're talking about regualr music here, not opera. Sarah Brightman does have an awesome voice, but it's really high pitched.

Well, they are finnish, so english is a second language for them.

Which song do they have on iTunes?

For me, it was Stargazers that got me hooked, but Fantasmic, Elvenpath and Nymphomaniac Fantasia are my favs.

That's a good one, but not a good representation of their overall style. If you wanna sample by downloading, get at least Fantasmic....personally that songs always blow me away:)

LOL, "regular music". Most people here think "opera" is a browser; let's get some more exposure for "classical" music. :) For the record, I never heard of Sarah Brightman, but then I'm not a huge opera fan (chamber music for me).

Okay, okay. Opera is not mainstream, hence popular music = regular. At least that's what I meant.
