Does the A64 have a temp diode in it?

Topic says it all. I was just reading a review and the cpu idle temp was stated as 25C. A good flashlight gets hotter than that in use.

That's a good temperature, but don't compare it to a lightbulb or flashlight, those are MEANT to convert electricity with much waste into the form of heat and light. ;)

I find that astounding. The cpu uses 70 or 80 watts of energy and stays within a few degrees of ambient?

uses 65Watt max. When ur surfing its maybe only 30 oder 40Watt.
btw it often depends on ur Mobo how exactly it shows ur temps, cuz although the cpu has a temp diode inside u still need a good mobo that can actually read the information from the temp diode. Many boards have their own sensor very close to the cpu slot only. This also includes that the mobos temp sensor is not allways showing correct numbers. Some boards tend to show higher temps, sometimes u can fix it with bios-updates.
