people will disagree with me.

you can probably get by without installing them, but ive always found it better to install the 4in1's the nice thing about them is they only install what your system needs.

Just install 3 of the 4 (don't do the AGP miniport driver). Use the AMD driver for that. That should do it.

I installed each of the three necessary Via drivers (IRQ Routing Driver, USB Filter Driver, and IDE Busmaster Driver) separately. You can download them individually from viahardware.com. Worked fine for me, running Windows 98SE on an Athlon 1.2GHz.

Whatever you do, don't install the full 4-in-1 package. The northbridge is an AMD 761 and it therefore requires the AMD AGP Miniport driver, not the Via one.

for any AMD 761 + VIA SB board you do NOT need a VIA driver. Anything is provided for by ME or W2K and works 100%. VIA is only screwing up things.

Chainbolt, I've never had the Via drivers screw anything up on my Via-based boards (all 17 of them). You're right, the 4-in-1s are not necessary if you're running Windows 2000 or ME. But I'd still install them. Microsoft provides less than spectacular drivers for Via motherboards, especially in the IDE driver department. I just install the Via drivers anyway, just to be on the safe side.

I installed the via busmaster driver on my epox 8k7a last night and i did notice a difference in speed on my hdd (ibm deskstar 60gxp running ata100), I figured better safe than sorry and I'm glad I installed it. It wasn't a huge speed difference, but there was a difference. I also installed the amd agp miniport driver, usb filter driver, and irq driver and haven't noticed any differences(all the drivers I installed came from the epox cd that came with the motherboard).
