Does the 3g iphone mean an updated ipod touch is coming as well?

I was considering buying an ipod touch but if they're going to update the touch at the same time as the iphone I might as well just wait. So far I haven't heard of anything that would relate to the touch being updated on the iphone just 3G.

I have been following the 3G iPhone rumors pretty closely, but I haven't heard anything about a new iPod Touch.

If anything the only updates of the Touch will be probably the same form factor, look, and tech capabilities (ie storage). Other than that probably nothing more.

It entirely depends on what's updated with the new iPhone. If it's just a replacement of the cell phone bits, there won't be a new Touch. But if they replace the GPU/CPU/chipset/Wifi, then a new Touch is probable. I am not immediately aware of the non-cell bits being updated.

I wouldn't imagine so. 3G means absolutely nothing to the Touch, although GPS could mean something.

But you can already get the touch up to 32gigs, and I don't think the price is going down anytime soon. So you might as well buy when you need one.

But really, think about it, what more could they really add to the touch that would make it "that much" better. Aside from longer battery life, I can't really think of anything that would make me say "I should've waited"

GPS is extremely handy once you've gotten used to it. We use it all the time on my wife's Mogul. (So is A2DP - WTF, Apple?)

GPS would be lost on a touch though since it can't rely on a constant internet connection.

Well, theoretically you could have maps that you sync like songs or something. So you'd get the map for, say, San Francisco, and have it on the Touch with a GPS to tell you where you are on the map at any given time.

We'll see if the 3G iPhone has a GPS and how it will work with regards to connections. Personally I'd like a GPS to work even when I don't have cell service... but I personally doubt the 3G iPhone will have a GPS. :)
