my roomate is going to china this summer for school. he has a digital camera and was wounderin if there was something that he could dump all the pictures he will take on instead of buying tons of compact flash cards. does something like this exist. like is there anyway to hook a USB connection to a microdrive??? needs to be somethig that has a decent ammoint of storage a cople hundred megs + someone LMK

IBM's microdrives will fit in a Digital Camera with Type-2 compatible (it should also state microdrive compatible) Compact Flash slots. That should provide I think 2 GB of memory.

I'm assuming the camera he has is not compatible with MicroDrive, otherwise there wouldn't be a problem.

i dont think his camera is CF2 compatable and he wont have a comp handy camera will be all by itself. his camera is a Kodak DC 5000 if that helps any

His kodak will only take type I CFcards, so no microdrive for him. if he has a laptop, get a PCMCIA adapter for it, otherwise take a look at one of those digital wallet systems like this one: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/digitalwallet/ . I have heard that these work fairly well, though I imagine they suck batteries.
