Does size really matter?

I need a new driver. Should I get one of the new 450cc heads?

I was at the PGA and I noticed most of the players were using them.

bigger size = bigger sweet spot = you can suck a little more at golf and still hit it decently.

size is NOWHERE near as important as technique.

i have a cheap cheap driver, i tried a few of the really nice drivers, big, high end etc, no difference in distance, i had a really consistent but mediocre swing and i couldn't drive farther than 230 or so.

then a friend of mine, golf pro, taught me how to hit, now i'm hitting 270 or so with my cheap driver.

technique is way more important than size.

if you get the technique down, yes size will help.

or you can do what i do and play every hole with a pitching wedge and putter. 😛

My swing speed is about 98 mph. I think I need to get a stiff shaft. I'm using a regular shaft now and I'm getting too high of a trajectory and getting a bit of a fade of the tee.

That's a lot of strokes on the par 5s!

even on par 3's 😛 I only get a little over 100 on my pitching wedge. but it's nice to be good at something 😛

I play better with a driver that has a big head... tried out a Big Bertha, and it handled really well. Couldn't afford one for myself, though... 🙁

my friend worked on my swing a lot, we haven't clocked it, but one thing he did was slow me down.

it isn't absolute speed, it's speed at the right point.

also, one of the things we did to improve my swing was, i played the whole course with just my 3 wood. put, drive, mid range, everything with just my 3 wood.

basically right now my swing is the same no matter what i'm hitting. even putting.

I'm kinda figuring that you are not quite PGA ready. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)
I could use a club like Fred Flintstone uses and still not hit a real good tee shot.
Listen to PlatinumGold in this.
He is a tall, thin WASP that belongs to several Country Clubs in North and South Carolina.
