Does Safari crash for you often (iPad 2)?

Most recent iOS. I find after a few days Safari will get pretty bad. As I open up a second or third tab it will regularly just close down. If I re-open all tabs are still there with the URLs and it will refresh each one. Predictably if it does it and then I re-open it won't do it again until I open yet another tab. Then it might...

If you don't mind, what kind of webpages are you opening up? I wonder if something running on a website is causing it to crash? I agree with Patranus, though, in resetting Safari and then possibly doing a restore if this still does not fix it.

Yes, holy crap it crashes a lot. On my iPod touch that is.

But it crashes like IE6 on Windows 98. I've gotten like four crashes in a span of 10 minutes on the thing.

I think it's likely a memory issue.

I use a iPhone 2G as an iPod in the car. Have used it to surf via WiFi and never ran into an issue - outside of speed.

Normal websites including at forums. I have rebooted the iPad but will look around sys settings, thanks!

It crashes quite often on my ipad1. I think as someone else said its a memory problem. If i go in and close everything running and just have safari open, i don't have a problem. Never had it crash on iphone 4 or 4s though.

There is a bug in Safari for iPad 2 on iOS 5 that will automatically crash the browser when certain combinations of things happen.

It's a known bug that as far as I know has not been addressed so far in iOS 5 up to 5.0.1. It was carried over from as far back as iOS 5 beta 3 if I'm not mistaken. 5.1 seems to have fixed it, though.

Wow...I was just getting ready to post here as I'm having the same prob with my new for Xmas ipad2. Look on apple forums. There are lots of folks having the prob. 5.0.1 = fail. Gotta go see if 5.1 fixes it.

5.1?

Anybody finding a 5.1 available?

"Not I!", said the Tin Man.

Think about how many people got iPads for Christmas only to have them crash at random & people reaching for their laptops again.

I use Atomic on my iPad 1, and it crashes probably about once a day. Notably with intensive web pages or too many tabs being open. The iPad simply doesn't have enough memory. They really need 1gb like the Android tablets.

My first Gen iPad crashes daily after iOS 5 update. It was rock solid on 4.x.

No issues at all on my iPhone with iOS 5 though.

5.1 is in beta right now, so it should be released sometime soon.

It doesn't occur all the time. Just in very specific situations, and thankfully it's not site-specific.

Plus if my memory serves (sorry, no iPad now to verify), you can use a third-party browser like Atomis or iCab Mobile, and it won't happen at all.

If there's any consistent thing I've noticed it's on pages with a lot of ads. Yahoo Sports blows up a lot. Other blogs with side loading ads crash. My wife has had it crash on facebook quite a bit. All new "enhanced behavior with iOS5.

Still happening a good bit tonight 🙁 It does seem rebooting helps but that is a pain.

Edit: it happened right when I hit submit on this post but I was surprised to see the post event occurred so I didn't lose my text.

oh hell yeah. It crashes like windows 98 on a bad day. Not as often as games crash though. It is amazing how people rush out to plink down 6-12 frickin benjamins on a piece of crap that runs as bad as win98. I use an ipod 4th gen, not an ipad. And I will never ever buy anything from apple ever again. At least my remote desktop and remote vlc and dropbox stuff works (most of the time). I must point out that every single app I run has crashed at some point. But safari is the worst, of the ones that dont always crash anyway, like Epoch. Epoch just crashes every single time like a really bad windows 95 joke.

Occasionally, however Flipboard seems to crash quite often, especially when you open webpages within the app. It's pretty annoyinh
