Does Rounders warrant a Sequel?

In 2005, Harvey and Bob Weinstein left Miramax and corporate parent Disney to found The Weinstein Company. Now, after a failed attempt to buy Miramax back, the Brothers Weinstein are returning to the company they founded… sort of. According to a press release, Miramax and the Weinstein Company will partner to create sequels to “some of Miramax’s best-known properties …the first films to be produced under the agreement will be sequels to Bad Santa, Rounders, and Shakespeare in Love.”

Personally... i liked how the movie ended. It's one of those movies that was wrapped up quite nicely... and doesn't warrant a sequel.

No, it doesn't. But Hollywood wants to make a quick buck and there's no better way than to piggyback off past hits.

Definitely not and I doubt they will get guys as good as Damon, Norton, Malkovich, and Landau to be in the sequel. Rounders is great; a movie I can watch repeatedly.

i dont think it would work as a direct sequel to the original characters but then again if it were an entire new set of folks, then it would only be a sequel in name only. maybe cameo's by a successful matt damon as the new top dog to beat with a new underdog.

It was a crappy movie the first time around, so it's not like a sequel is going to ruin the franchise.

Troll much ?? It was a good movie that needs no sequel. Good ending, wrapped up everything .. it would be akin to thinking a Titanic sequel would be a great idea.

Nope, just the intelligence to recognize a shitty move. Good luck getting there someday. But if you are so desperately pathetic that you need to resort to screaming "troll" when your superiors have opinions more informed than your own I'm not holding out much hope that it will ever happen.

The movie became more popular with the increase in popularity of the world series of poker/texas hold'em over the past 5-10 years.

It became a cult classic out of nowhere, kind of like Boondock Saints. And just like that movie, the sequel will be horrible.

I will be skipping this one barring any some surprisingly positive reviews.

I think it could work, but now is too soon. They should do the whole thing that Paul Newman did with The Hustler / Color of Money if they're going to try this at all.

Maybe if they show Matt Damon's character going to the WSOP: Main event every year, getting beat by some random chump from Alabama and eventually planning and executing a huge Ocean's Eleven style heist it could be a good movie.

Otherwise I think they should just let sleeping dogs lie.
