Just wondering in my mind...rite now i have PC1600 512 RAM

just bought a bunch of new cr@p like case, msi k7n2islr, amd 2600 etc etc actually had to RMA the mobo but thats a whole diff story

anywho....do you think its worth it for me to go out and buy a 512 stick of pc2700 or 3200 ram? will i see much performance difference? how abotu 2 256mb sticks to take advantage of the dual ram thing that the mobo has? just wondering ur opinions

Definately... I don't know how you got PC1600... I've NEVER seen it for sale. Get PC3200... prices are low enough now that there's not a significant price difference between PC3200 and PC2700.

Is your 2600+ the 266fsb or the 333fsb, well it makes no diffrence. Yes, you will see a great improvement by going with 2700DDR or 3200DDR since this will allow you to run you memory in sync with your CPU fsb of 266 or 333, and Yes, 2x256 is better than 1x512 since the dual channel is faster, use it if you got it 🙂.

ok who wants to go hunting for me--- best price on a name brand (i dont care wut brand as long as its popular and decent) of pc3200 256 ram!!!!

newegg.com is always a safe bet that you'll get the best price, or within a buck or two... AND get superb service

Oh, PC1600 is horrible....its essentialy DDR PC100, that hasnt been used in a long time, I emember it was around when I bught my sister her 'top of the line' Duron 950 (what a horrible CPU). Buy yourself 512 of whatever the fastest ram your board will run is.

ok thanks every1

on buyxtremegear.com i found 256 kingston ram pc3200 for 40 bucks each

free shipping 3 day select

getting 2 of them

thanks again

ill just keep this pc1600 in my old pc lol athlon 1800+

Ah good stuff....I recently bought the standard version of that board K7N2...and I was gonna stick with my PC2100 but decided to go for PC3200 after chatting to peeps on these forums....glad I did, so you definately won't regret it! 😉

Gonna go dual channel soon....(you can do this now of course!)

lol i either shorted my k7n2islr out OR arived DOA im not sure which 1 but wutever its on its way back to newegg rite now for RMA hopefully they will get it thurs and i will get it next week

PC-2700 only offers like a 10% boost over PC-133 doesnt it? If I remember correctly. Still that boost is worth the $70 for 512MB ram

I went from a 512 strip of samsung ca2.5, to a gig (2-512) or Corsair pc2700 ca2. WOW, what a difference! Don't know if it was the size boost or the brand and type, but I just ordered another gig of the same stuff for my other box.
