does power supply really affect oc'ed computer stability

i was tweaking some more last night and i was able to get the fsb to 204 with mem timings of 11,2,2,2
i ran 3dmark03, 01se, pcmark02, sandra burn-in, and a six hour loop of a cpu stability utility. no problems!

new speed is 2.36Ghz hope to hit fsb of 210 with new psu..

The 8rda+ is a great mobo... No need for the Vdd mod, i have a C1 revision/stepping...

@ 210 FSB i run my hyper X @ 2/3/3/6... Same goes if running at 220 FSB..

Current Voltage is 1.755 using a Vantec Aeroflow temps are hovering around 40C and about 45C full load...



I still think bad PSU, my Sparkle 350 loves everything i give it...

BTW, what video card are you running?

i'm running a 9700 pro.

this thread is kinda going off tangent....but anyway

as i'm increasing the fsb and say i get crashes in 3dmark03 or my computer won't boot into windows,

where should i look first...
my Vcore is 1.8V and Vdimm is 2.9v
with temps reaching 47c under load

what timings on the memory help stabilize it the most.

i guess the biggest question is how do you know if your instabilities are from lack of Vcore or from the timings being too low?

Well considering your over the 200 FSB limit of your ram... Or supposedly the limit, i would look at timings first...

Don't raise your Vcore any higher however, if you can't get more when u relax the timings, you're at the peak of that Chip...

That's when you reverse, and try and get the lowest stable voltage!

system bios cacheable and
video card ram cacheable does?

disabled.

I can find some more info than can tell you why also though..

I also disable Fast Write...

My Radeon doesn't really like it much.

yea i've heard about disabling the fast write.

does that make any difference in performance or is it just for stability?

would having that turned on affect my stability at higher fsb's.

also would having my cpu interface set to aggressive affect stability when increasing the fsb? i have it set to that now.

Actually i would think Fast Wires could affect stability... For me at least.. Turn it off and see.. .

I run mine at optimal. Try that and see if you can get some more...
