Does one need WinXP Pro for Hyperthreading??

I just had a thought, and was wondering if someone could answer for me.
Since only WinXP Professional has support for dual processor's, does that mean hyperthreading as well? Since it is 2 virtual processors.
Can people with XP Home edition or earlier even use Hyperthreading?
I've got Pro, but i just was curious for other people.

I think it will recognize the full processor clock speed and all, but you just won't be able to use the hyper-threading ability...

I work at Circuit City and we just started getting some new HP, Compaq, and Sony PC's with Hyperthreading 2.4C and 2.6C Processors and it seems that while Windows XP Home Edition will see the processors as two, it won't allow for me to load Prime 95 up on each processor like I can with my home machine. So I would really like a definite on this also, but for now, I don't think it takes advantage of them.

According to MS web site, XP Home will run HT processors fine it just won't run dual processors. I run XP Home w/o any problem, though I don't run 2 Prime95's I just load up multimedia processes until my second processor goes near max.

I cannot seem to get windows xp pro to recognize hyperthreading. I'm not sure if I had it enabled when I installed but shouldn't I be able to switch it without re-installing? No processor shows up under device settings and updating the computer driver doesn't give me the option to select multi-processor computer. Can anyone help me out here?

How do you know WinXP didn't recognize HT?

SiSoft Sandra shows it as disabled. Also I hear that in task manager 2 cpus show up instead of one.

I had the same issue with my new processor and until I reinstalled it wouldn't recognize it at all
