next monday will be the first Monday that happens in the month of march, which falls on the 1st. So it only makes sense that it's the first Monday of the month. :hmm:

Next Monday = the next Monday that happens.

Like saying, the next bus stop. The next time the bus stops.

how about NEXT FRIDAY?????

___~

Then what is Friday after Next?

As for the Next Monday, anyone who said anything but the 1st is retarded.

We are in *THIS* week currently, and on Sunday we will be in *NEXT* week. *THIS* Monday has passed. *NEXT* Monday is the upcoming Monday, which is March 1st and is part of *NEXT* week.

The only date thing that confuses me is when people use D/M/Y out of the blue. Don't know why some people decide to whip that out randomly.

there is undoubtedly some regional bias involved here...

pretty sure other people around here use "this" monday when referring to march 1st.

okay, dates-

when i say 'next month,' am i referring to april? would 'next february' be in 2012?

yeah but you don't use it like that. it only works with weekdays / weekends and such. it's hard to explain because i'm really hungover, but i think it all comes down to a regional preference anyway
