With due respect to everydae's right to a personal opinion, I think that argument is like saying a Dodge Neon is a good car because it came from the same country as the Corvette ZR1.

Umm, that's not my argument and I am actually against that kind of logic. :p My argument is more like saying all Chevy's from Mexico are not neccessarily crap. (Which actually wasn't from Mexico, but was from US to begin with)

Nah, it would be like saying that Chrysler is on par with GM because people in the USA consider them to be equivalent quality brands (validity of the last part of this statement is unknown).

I've got Nexens now and they're okay. Not as sticky as I'd like, but for the price I couldn't complain. I've got General Exclaims on my Camry now and they're really good also. Previously I've had Falken 452's on there which were good too, but didn't last very long.

Honestly, why are you wasting money buying good tires for 14" rims? Seriously upgrade to a bigger size so you can go with a wider tire...

Thanks, mztykal. I'm not planning on spending a buttload. Right now I only have one set of rims, I am thinking about buying a set for the summer so I can just switch the wheels come winter time.

If I do buy a separate set of rims, then I'd go for 15" instead.

Either way, I think the potenza is a decent deal and not too much of a splurge even if I do get them in 14". They're not that much more than the Nexen, it might cost me around $475 instead of $400. It would be worth it, no?

Guess I'm the oddball here...I have a set of Nexen Roadians on my 2007 Ram Pickup, standard cab, shortbed...and I love these tires..not one thing wrong with them.. I take freeway exits at 60 - 65 and they stick like Crazy Glue has been applied..Really don't think anyone needs to take exits at those speeds, I just do it at times just to feel those tires grab..

Edit-

Potenza 960's/970's are a good all season. They are not gonna be as sticky as a summer tire no matter how Bridgestone/Firestone try to rate them. The wet traction (like after the oil washes off the road wet traction) is amazing. I've had mine flat spot a couple times during the winter but it goes away after less than half a mile.

Only reason for all seasons is to either 1) Use them all year round or 2) You specifically want damn good wet traction and are willing to trade a little dry traction for it. If one of those isnt the case and you're getting two sets of wheels for winter/summer then look at something more like a Potenza re760 or some Bf Goodrich KDWs.

If you just have beige-mobile like a camry or corolla then really you just need something like a Goodrich Traction T/A or Bridgestone Turanza Serenity if you feel spendy. Your car would limit you before the tire if you go any more than that.

From what little I've seen, it looks like Sentury UHP's (225/45R18) might be descent. Anyone else have any luck with Sentury tires?

Thanks,
Randy

Hi, Randy,

Welcome to AnandTech Forums. I locked the thread because the previous reply was almost years ago, and was centered on another make of tires.

Our members refer to such posts as "necro" posts, and some of them tend to post replies ranging from sarcastic to hostile, including possible accusations of spamming, whether warranted or not.

You are welcome to continue posting on our forums. I suggest starting a new thread to post your questions about Sentury UHP' tires.

Thanks for understanding. We hope you enjoy yourself on our forums. :)
