does newegg's $3.99 actually make it ship faster?

well i got something from newegg.com again and as always it has that little option to pay an extra 3.99 so they can ship it in one day. i tried it once but not this time cus i did not notice it to be any faster. has anyone actually experienced it to actually ship faster?

i used to do rush processing, but i have stopped for my last few orders and my shipments get here in the same amount of time. meh...

It might make a difference, but none that I've been able to perceive. I used to always opt for the rush shipping, but haven't in awhile. I still get my stuff pretty quick.

I live in Fresno (4-5 hour drive north of their HQ in SoCal) and it often takes about 3-4 days, rush processing or not, so I don't know that it will make a difference.

You shouldn't have to pay extra for good service. I never pay that fee. If they start to get any worse I will goto zzf for everything. ZZF always ships same day for me as long as I do not order late in the evening or weekends or something like that. Newegg used to be very good. I ordered from them when they first opened up years ago. So I have plenty of experience with them and know how they were and how they are now. But anyways, I still never payed the extra money to get rush shipping.

Sometimes it makes a difference. If you order a bit later during the day, usually the shipment is processed sometime during the next day. If you pay that extra, they are able to ship on the same day as your late order..sometimes.

I do not know what fast means, and where people get their stories from.

Shipping is expensive. (about $30 on a $130 order of few light small plastic enclosures and a CD Burner).

Took them 3 days to get it out, and the FedEx will take another 4-5 days to get to NY.

According to FedEx projection when the thingies arrives to my door it will be at least a week since the original ordering.

In Sum, expensive Slow shipping.:Q

i've been making online purchases for numerous years now and have found USPS Priority Mail to be the fastest shipping method for the best price.. usually within 3-4 days even from CA to NY. Directron offers USPS Priority, and they are out of TX.. so you may want to try them in the future if you want to recieve your items more quickly.. plus USPS delievers on Saturday for FREE.

for the record, i demand SAME day processing on any order placed before 5PM (local time to vendor), and next day processing otherwise.. anything else is unacceptable at this point. These vendors have been around long enough now, and the systems are in place to handle this demand..

also, unless i'm forced to I boycott UPS, as they could care less about customers or customer satisfaction.. they deliever packages when they're good and ready.. i've had plenty of packages shipped within the same state take 5 days via UPS ground.. that is so abusrd, it's not even funny.

USPS seems to really care about getting the job done, i've gotten packages from NY to CA via priority in 3 days. and I never have to worry about stupid notes on my door or missing the delievery man, because they'll leave it in my box, or on my doorstop EVERY TIME!

FedEx EXPRESS is by far the fastest, but it is also the MOST EXPENSIVE. if you want overnight or two-day fedex rocks, i've had numerous memory modules from crucial sent 2-day fedex and arrive next day.. even had a few times where i missed FedEx in the morning, and I was able to call and have them reattempt the same day.

newegg's little scheme to cheat people outta 4 bucks is disgusting.. i'm sure they process ALL their orders the same way..

o geez wut did i start........but yea i also found usps to be faster than anything else ive ordered through. i ordered a processor and they sent it through usps from illinois to so/cal took next freakin day. it was insane i wasnt expecting it and also for some reason i found outpost to ship and arrive faster than newegg but newegg is still fast but wish i could just go pick it up since i just live in the next town over from them

for things that I really NEED fast or atleast to ship that day then yeah I have put it on there but ussually not.

I've bought a few odds and ends off Amazon using their free shipping, which said 5-9 days for delivery. Everything got here in 4 days or less. I bought some piddly stuff off Newegg and paid for their overblown shipping. Took them 24+ hours to process the order and still hasn't made it here 3 days after that.

I've never bothered, my stuff is almost invariably here 3 days after I order (no sat/sun), occasionally 2

And I'm in NY, so no tax! neener neener 😛

I typically find that if I order early in the day, no later than early afternoon (I'm in the EST), that Newegg will always process my order and get it out that same day. I've never opted for rush processing. I'm too patient to pay for it.

Almost everything I've bought from newegg has shipped either the same day or the next business day. It is often the FedEx saver that is slower than it needs to be as they seem to always take the full three business days regardless. So I'd say it's worth it to bump from Saver to 2nd day economy (PM delivery) if you are really in a hurry. But I'd skip the expediting fee unless you have to order late in the day Pacific Time.

Rain, rain GO AWAY!!!

With the christmas season being so busy it may get the stuff out the door earlier since it probably assigns higher priority, but you should still buy the shipping upgrade if you are breathless with anticipation 😛
