Does Newegg often screw up orders in favor of the customer?

so I went to a friends house the other day and saw that he had two 22'' Acer LCD monitors which he got from Newegg. He said that he only ordered one but newegg sent him two (he only paid for one). He said it wasnt the first time Newegg has done that... And I have heard of other people getting two video cards instead of one, and other things like that...

I was like, damn, I wish that happened to me! Although its probably ethically wrong to just keep the free item since its obviously a mistake by the Egg -- though they do screw up a lot of orders too...

I was just wondering if anything similar has happened to anyone and what you do about it, and how something like this could happen, etc.

I can tell you what kind of a person your friend is after you answer the following question:

Did he return the extra item?

no... which is why it was in use as dual monitors on his desktop

I know other people who have received more than they ordered and just kept the free stuff.

Its never happened to me. I'm the one who gets screwed by Newegg at times, LoL

You've been on here 6 years and I've never noticed that.

yeah and I dont live there anymore...
Me neither. But I spent the first 19 years of my life there. Just didn't expect to see anyone on here from there (other than my bro, and a friend who used to live there).

If they gave me 2 things instead of 1, I would have kept them unless asked to do so.

Unless asked to do what you did?

Your post makes no sense.

Anyway, Newegg apparently didn't notice that they sent two monitors and never contacted him about it. When talking to my friend, I actually said, "how could they not notice an error like that? Don't they manage their inventory very well? How would they make a mistake like that anyway? The invoice said ONE not two..."

Another thought: Perhaps this incident could be part of something else like employee theft... you never know.

well its some kind of screw up, obviously.

id return whatever i got extra as long as theyd send a shipping label to send it back (and im pretty sure they would in this case)

back in 2001 they sent me free OEM copies of Win2K and 2K Server when i ordered some comp parts

Never for me or anyone I've spoken to. Wouldn't matter in my case because I'd send the extra item back so long as the seller provided return shipping.

Perhaps your friend should have taken the ethical high ground and contacted Newegg about their mistake and see what they wanted to do instead of being an unethical jackass.

he's actually a good guy and I dont think he considered the ethics of the situation... not to excuse his actions... some people just dont think or realize certain things.

anyway enough of this. I was just asking if it happens to other people often... wanted to know if newegg did this a lot

I would not go through all the trouble of sending it back, unless it was COD and I did not have to repackaged or me have to pay anything.

I'd probably call them up and see if I can just pay for the item and keep it.

Of course he thought about it. "Hey they sent me two monitors instead of one! What should I do? Send it back? No, I think I'll just keep it."
