My vet recommended that it be done as soon as they weigh 2 lbs, which was when they were about 10 weeks old. When they were at that weight, he said it may be better to wait until they get fixed so they only have to be put under once.

Don't declaw it if its a little normal house cat. If i had a tiger, i'd declaw it for sure.

on the contrary... bigger than housecats shouldnt be kept as pets. it's cruel.

as far as declawing goes, the cat will destroy furniture if not declawed (generally).

we had cinnamon declawed, 12 years later, she still paws at furniture.

we only had her front paws declawed.

she does well enough with her back claws. :p
You obviously missed the last thread about this.

Please do not declaw your cat.

It is quite analogous to having your fingers removed at the first knuckle. Of course, some cats are fine with it. It also seriously messes with some cats' heads. Many cats feel very insecure after being declawed. Many cats also resort to biting when they have no claws.

It is an unnecessary practice. If you don't want to train your cat, you don't deserve a cat.

an insecure cat? right.....

yes, i did browse over the last thread about this.

my cat has no reason to bite anyone, or claw at anything. she still has the back claws to scratch herself, though. and she also has them for running. but other than that, she has no need of them.

and my cat does nip at me, but she is playing. she's quite happy being without claws...she cant even remember when she had them.

hell, she cant even remember 5 minutes :p

as for the original post, call your vet and explain the situation and see what they say. my cat squints, too, but it's just something it does, and there's no obvious reason for it other than him being a tweaker. but if there's discharge from the eye, that's bad news and the kitty probably needs some help, so please call.
