Does mobile Sandy Bridge chipset have 23.976 Hz video output bug?

Doesn't anybody know the answer to this question? I'm trying to decide whether to get a Sandy Bridge based laptop or an AMD E-350 based netbook. Since I will be using it to play movies on my HDTV as well I want it to handle 23.976 Hz video output properly.

If the SB notebook that you buy has a SB processor but an AMD or Nvidia GPU you could still rely on the GPU to do all of the work which should in a way bypass the problem. If you can afford for the SB laptop, the E-350 should not be your other choice as they are priced differently. If you're still unsure, in 3-4 months time the Llano APU should be available for laptops as well. :)

Quoted from your link
If you fall into the latter category, your only option for resolution is to buy a discrete graphics card. Currently AMD’s Radeon HD 5000 and 6000 series GPUs correctly output a 23.976Hz refresh rate if requested. These GPUs also support bitstreaming Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA, while the 6000 series supports HDMI 1.4a and stereoscopic 3D. The same is true for NVIDIA’s GeForce GT 430, which happens to be a pretty decent discrete HTPC card.

Thanks. In my case I'd like to have as good battery life as possible, so a CPU with integrated GPU is probably the best choice.

If one also wants to be able to play 1080p movies, currently that only leaves two options; Intel SB or AMD E-350. Price is not a deciding factor for me in this case, so I'd prefer the SB if it supports proper 23.976 Hz video output.

But perhaps it's better to wait for the mobile version of the Llano APU? I just wonder if it will have as good battey life as the mobile Intel SB, considering that the Llano will have a more powerful GPU?

You could get an SB notebook with a GT 540m or something of that sort as the 540m can use optimus. (GPU switching)

If you are not in a hurry to get a laptop and CPU power is not a major concern then you could wait for the Llano. Even when Llano comes out the SB will still have the superior CPU power but lacking in the GPU department.

It should have good battery life as well because I have heard that the AMD C-50 netbooks have quite a good battery life compared to Atom and able to play 1080P with the proper codecs. The more powerful GPU does not mean that it would sip more power if it still works within its TDP.

Get the SB if you need it now. I wouldn't get the E-350 if you are looking for an all rounder laptop. Llano is a better choice if you need the extra CPU power compared to the E-350.

That media player classic thing. As far as I know mpc hc contains internal dxva decoders for h.264 and vc-1 video
