Discussion Does Mindfactory.de have good AMD prices?

Over the years of watching Mindfactory.de prices, I have noticed that they have very good AMD prices. I assume that it is a self-reinforcing feedback loop. Mindfactory.de sells lots of AMD chips, so they buy in larger quantities, so they get good prices from AMD, so they can pass on the savings, so they get more sales, so the loop continues.

Multiple Anandtech posters requested proof of this good price observation. Since Mindfactory.de having good AMD prices was an observation and not a weblink, I had nothing to link to. This thread is to track prices for everyone to see. If anyone wants to help out by proposing different models to track or to help with the tracking, that would be great. Until then, the 5800X is in the news a lot as a direct competitor to the upcoming Intel 11700k. So, I'll track that one. Also, I'll track Mindfactory.de's best selling chip, the Ryzen 5 3600.

To be as consistent as possible, this will track only German focused retailers in Euros. This is because Mindfactory.de is a German company that prices in Euros. With any luck, this will encourage better pricing at other stores. Prices are as listed on the website including VAT and I think also include shipping.

I'm not really sure what the purpose of this is or what kind of point you're attempting to prove, but if you wanted to, you could use the Wayback Machine on archive.org to get historical data. It's probably incomplete and spotty at best, but it would give you some additional data.

For example, the 3600 page has data from the following dates:

8/23/2019: €196
8/25/2019: €196
8/30/2019: €196
10/16/2019: €195

12/3/2019: €197

It's unlikely you'll get a lot of dates that line up perfectly between the various sites, but it might give you a few that are close enough to allow some kind of comparison.

Thank you for your time and assistance. When I get the time, I will look to see if I can get valid comparisons with Wayback Machine.

I was called clueless because I was posting facts about what happened in the past. I don't have a link to the past, but I can at least provide one for future uses. That post stemmed from my statement that I won't use Mindfactory.de prices for the 11700k as the official price for the chip. I wanted to wait until actual prices come out in the next couple of weeks. Not only (1) it was over a month before the actual launch, but also (2) Mindfactory.de has regularly good AMD prices, but not always good Intel prices.

I don't care enough to bother because this is pointless and you are talking about 10 euros it seems, but this is useless without Intel data.

It's as pointless as any other argument on the internet, but far be it from me to stand in the way of anyone being right on the internet. I've certainly argued over pettier things.

I'm not really sure if it ends up proving anything beyond MindFactory usually having the best prices on Ryzen CPUs among online German retailers, but if the data backs that up, then the data backs that up.

It might not be a bad idea to look at a few current generation Intel CPUs or do that in conjunction with the Wayback Machine. The 11700K isn't going to be out for a few more weeks and it's kind of silly to use a single point of data given the circumstances under which it exists. You could probably use the 10700K and an older Coffee Lake CPU for comparison with the historical data. Even though you won't have full results for all retailers, there are probably enough that line up to allow for comparisons to be made between pairs of retailers.

As a German occasionally following the prices Mindfactory indeed has good prices for AMD chips, but not unreasonable so and often not the best offer either. Keep in mind the German market in general is known to be very price sensitive, so a lot of stores try to outdo each other even if only temporary which can make prices very volatile even without shortages. The site to look up prices for the German market is Geizhals (unfortunately it doesn't offer a handy per store price graph like pcpartpicker does), and for AMD chips the current prices look like this:
