Does memory type/brand really make that much of difference in performance in AMD A64 3800+ with SLI?

no it's really latencies. but better brand memory usually has better compatibilities/better warranty/mre likely to be higher quality than generic ram.

How would DDR (400) 3200 - 1 GB (2 pcs 512) Corsair (TwinX1024-3200C2PT) be? Is this ok for an AMD 64 3800 or 4000+ w/SLI board and twin 6800 GTs.

Thanks! But the website I'm trying to build the computer on (Monarch) doesn't offer G-Skill. They have Corsair, OCZ, Patriot and Simple Tech. How is OCZ or Patriot or Simple Tech - or should I just stick with the Corsair? Thanks!!!

corsair is probabyl the best value out of any of them then.

edit: go value ram. save some money. you might be missing out on 2-3% performance MAX.

Patriot XBL, OCZ Platinum Revision 2, & Corsair pc4400cs2...those are the top 3 from those companies for AMD processors. They are great, but some good value RAM would do the trick pretty well also.

Ok, how about these then:

1 GB (2 pcs 512) OCZ (OCZ4001024PDC-K) OR
1 GB (2 pcs 512) Patriot (PDC1G3200LLK). Thanks!

That's what I have, low price & low latency...TCCD chips & Brainpower PCB allow it to overclock very well also if you're into that.
