Does mail get postmarked when it gets picked up?

hmm... not quite sure... but for rebates and stuff, i usually go to the post office and ask them to do it at the counter.

They closed the door right when I got there and wouldn't let me in. I had to just buy the stamps and drop it in the slot. One rebate is supposed to be postmarked today, one is supposed to be postmarked tomorrow. :(

when they process it at your local postoffice, before shipping it out

if you "need" a postmark, you should go to your nearest "main" postoffice, the ones with extended/decent hours

it really depends on where you live. If you live in a less densely populatered area the mail won't be post marked at the your post office but at the distribution center. I live in NJ and most of or mail gets postmarked at a regional postoffice. ONLY during tax season and christmas does it get postmarked at the local postoffices.
