i'm so sick of the lakers and kobe's attitude, someone needs to beat these punks in the playoffs this year, no three-peat for these losers.

Seriously, those riding the pine in the NBA have the best jobs. Even getting paid the league minimum, you're basically rich....

Sorry, but not many people in the NBA average 25+ points/5+ rebounds/5+ assists per game. No matter who you've got on your team, that's not that easy. I know McGrady does, but I can't think of anyone else...

edit: C-Webb's pretty close...

Sure Kobe's job is easier because he plays with Shaq, but Kobe is still a great talent. The Lakers arent gonna win without Shaq though, especially come playoff time. I'd take McGrady over Kobe if I wanted to build my team around someone though.

Kobe is the best player I've ever personally seen at a Lakers game. I saw Bird and the Celtics (when they were good), Magic and the Lakers, Payton and the Sonics, Hakeem and the Rockets and a few other teams.

Kobe is amazing to watch first hand. He doesn't really run... he floats. He has his own signature moves and shooting style that nobody could even try to imitate. And he finds the open man. He'll drive and make the other team's defense completely collapse and make a blind pass to a Laker player for a wide open shot.

Shaq is the most dominant player perhaps in history, but Kobe in my mind is the most amazing.

Better than Bird? Despite his lack of athleticism, I always thought Bird was amazing....Even though Kobe's awesome, IMHO, I don't think he matches Bird and Magic.....yet. ;)

<< How old is Pippen? Is it fair to compare his current performance to when he was in his prime? >>

Sure then, how about 3 years ago with Houston back when he was 33 years old, around a players prime age.
That is the year he left Chicago when MJ left, and Houston brought him over because they needed experience and leadership when Olajawon and Barley were on their way out.
His ppg avg dropped from about 20 ppg to 14.5 ppg and Houston went no where that year.

Many admit that he was undeservingly named 50 greatest players in NBA history.

better than magic?? no way. Magic could dominate the game from any position w/ the exception of center. and he played that position in the FINALS so.

I remember when he hit that game winner, "Kareem-style" hook....I though that was pretty nice :)

<< I agree Kobe is a talented and gifted bball player, but you might question his ability to suceed without Shaq. >>

You saw him own everybody at the all-star game...he'd do very well on his own
>>

It's an all star game and defense is almost non-existent so "owning" everyone is not all that difficult.

He's a good not great player without Shaq.

He's a good jump shooter and drives to the hole well and can finish as well as being a good free throw shooter.

His shooting range is somewhat limited to a foot inside of the 3-point arc and if he were to ever play without Shaq for an extended amount of time I wonder how well he would do if teams were able to focus just on him. ( I doubt he would have the success someone like Iverson would)

All in all I would love to have him on the Celts but I feel he is slightly overrated

<< Kobe will carry the team when Shaq is out....as demonstrated in the recent Sacramento-LA game. >>

Aren't the Lakers a marginal .500 team when Shaq doesn't play? Kobe isn't anything compared to Bird or Magic - Kobe has skills but he's not consistent - look at last years playoffs - one game he has 43, the next game 13, the next game 19, etc. You can't be a great player like a Jordan or a Bird or a Magic without consistency.

Yeah...but they still won those games. If Jordan, Bird, or Magic had the 2nd-best player in the league on their team too, they'd also score "inconsistently"

Kobe would not have 2 rings had it not been for Shaq. He just wants to be like Mike, it's kinda annoying.
Ang he uses the word "execute" too much. Maybe he should go to college.

Heh heh...Lakers seem to get silly nicknames...D-Fish for Derek Fisher, Mad Dog for Madsen, Shaq Diesel/The Big Aristotle, G-Money or i love you Daddy for Glen Rice,

Earth Wind & Fire for the big 3 when Rice was still around...
