Does it seem to anyone else like the NCAA has had an agenda in getting certain teams to the final four?

It seems by watching lots of games this tournament that the refs have been calling a disparite number of calls for one team over the other.

E.G Villanovas "travel call" against N.C? Probably a travel but something that shouldn't be called in the last 12 seconds when the shot would have tied the game.

Illinios mugging of AZ players down the stretch in the second half. Even the announcers commented several times that "that was a jersey grab that they got away with or that should have been a 3 point play"

There were some biased calls against the big teams in the early 2 rounds but once the NCAA had the cinderella story that it needed it needed to shift back to giving the premiere teams the calls so that they could make the final four.

Heaven forbid the NCAA lose ratings if West Virginia, Villanova, UW-Milwaukee and Michigan State all make the final four.

It seems to me down the stretch here that certain forces are hell bent on getting a UNC-Illinois matchup in the final.

cry me a frickin river! When your team doesn't win you either blame the refs or I guess now the NCAA itself is responsible. Face it, both Villanova and WVU had their games in the bag, and lost it coming down the stretch. If the situation was reversed and Villanova was up and UNC got the travelling call you all wouldn't care. So shut yer trap, and leave your conspiracy theories at home.

Make sure you are wearing your tinfoil hat when you watch the game so "They" do not influence your mind with TV rays

Oh please. Its a travel. those should be called.

fouls that shouldn't be called with that little time left are ticky tack fouls. ie cheap touch fouls you see in the nba. or blatant bail out outs, ie you drive have no way of making it but the other guy barely touched you and they put you to the line.

I want to know why YOU think it shouldn't have been called? they replayed it atleast twice and counted along with his steps. the ref is standing right there also. besides your NCAA has an agenda reason

If a team has to rely one a call from an offical, then they do not deserve to win.

Execution will easily overshadow any bad calls.

Looking at bad calls for a game loss is just an excuse for poor/sloppy play earlier on.

That may be true but when a victory comes down to 1 point a bad call can make or break a team...

Quit acting like a fvcking 10 year old. The only team that has a legitimate complaint was the blown traveling call on villanova at the end of the game and even that mistake isn't enough to claim a conspiracy.

People are going to watch no matter who is in the Final Four.

they didn't want it to be the Big Ten final. 'cmon, three out of the four in the final, being big ten? people would have been calling conspiracy over that too.

Truthfully, if there really was a conspiracy, Wisonsin would not have gotten close to the Elite 8.

I must say, this oddly seems like a great time to mention that Illinois beat Wisconsin 3/3 times this year, including breaking their 38 game home winning streak. Salt anyone? :D

Duke lost.

if there were truly a conspiracy, Duke the most popular team in college basketball would be in the Final Four.

Plus, Duke vs NC the most anticipated matchup in the history of college bball (they've never met in a final four match) would definitely have happened.

LOL!

Whatever you say Mr. Tarheel...

Villanova did get screwed. That wasn't a travel, he clearly took 2 steps. He did make the shot was fouled, there is no doubt that.

Face it, both Villanova and WVU had their games in the bag, and lost it coming down the stretch.

Last I heard it doesn't matter if you win the game by 20 or by a point, you still win. That's all that matters. Villanova should have had those 2 points and the foul shot.

If the situation was reversed and Villanova was up and UNC got the travelling call you all wouldn't care. So shut yer trap, and leave your conspiracy theories at home.

LOL... hypocrisy never ceases to amaze me.

I doubt it was a conspiracy, but the thing that annoys me is that the refs won't call a foul on a last second shot even though there clearly is one, just because they don't want to be known as the ref that called a game changing foul.

kind of like when Sparks was fouled when he shot that 3 pointer to tie if for OT in the UK MSU game yesterday? If they're going to review the play over whether it is a 3 pointer or not, they should review the ENTIRE play, including the "whoops we didn't call the foul, so it was a 3 pointer and he gets to shoot one"

That's not a distinction to be taken lightly, and as a result non-calls in the last seconds are a general practice unless it has a significant impact on executing the attempt, vs. modifying it. Its painful to see it happen against one's team, but not as painful as the wrong call being made. The villanova call was a perfect example, better to err on a non-call than completely blow the game because of a wrong call.
