Well, still debating if it makes sense to have 34GB 10,000 rpm drive as a master and "slower" 160-200 GB 7200rpm slave drive for data. Or have 2 160-200 GB drives for the same price as the above-mentioned option?

You could probably answer that question for yourself, and here's how: What is more important to you, space or speed? Of course, if your coputer is used for gaming only, then my logic doesn't really apply, cuz 10000rpm so far has done nothing to speed up my games. ;)

it all depends on your budget i guess. if i could burn money, i would go with option 1. because theoretically it has to be faster.

but since im not in a situation to burn money, and im practicall anyway. i would go with option 2.

flatblastard - the rpm's of your drive dont improve gfx performance. what it does do is improve loading/ intalling/ copying times.

If you have to get a 10k rpm drive, don't get the 36GB raptor, get the 74GB.

Yeah, I know that. I knew that before I built my last rig, but I had other plans for the raptor to start with. As for the games, I still had to try it for myself anyways. ;) I installed HL2 and FarCry on the raptor, just to see for myself, and, BEHOLD!, all the review sites were right, and so was I: The raptors were no faster at loading/playing games than the current 7200rpm, 8mb cache, 8-9ms drives, so, what's the point, right? Wrong. My latest rig does benefit from the raptor being my boot/OS drive, and a big ole' reliable Seagate for games/data. I still have HL2/FC on the raptor, though, cuz I play them the most and didn't wanna feel the need to remove/defrag/blah/blah/blah/reinstall/more blah....you get the picture.
