I just got a shiny sleek kt7-raid, and as I was putting it into my new case, I started thinking that there are benefits to setting up a burner-HDD combo on seperate ide ports. I wonder if the same goes for my raid setup? Does it make any diference if I set two hard drives up on one cable, or should I set up each drive on a seperate one? Would that use up an extra IRQ?

Abit with RAID?

Don't get me started. It's too early in the morning and I haven't had my coffee yet. :p

As far as setting up the IDE, they say that your RAID should stripe between the ATA100 PRIMARY and ATA100 SECONDARY. NOT both drives on one cable.

Of course, this leaves your ATA66 controllers wide open to usage for whatever you want and it does not matter how you have the drives on it as far as Master vs. Slave. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever to use the ATA100 controler for non-ATA100 devices when you have perfectly good ATA66 controllers on the board.

Jonnys recommended use for ABIT KT7 Raid,

Drill 3/8" hole in center of board.

Mount cheap quartz clock mechansim from rear of board.

Set clock hands so that noon points at Northbridge.

Mount clock on wall.

Results, clock looses 3 mins a day, damn ABIT

Clock falls off wall, kills cat, double damn ABIT piece of Sh1t.
