does it look worse when you alt tab away from IE when at work?

I leave it up. Otherwise you look like you have something to hide.

A) I don't visit anything too unprofessional-looking while the boss is in the building, and B) he knows I get my work done. If I'm surfing, there's nothing going on anyway.

I have dual monitors, so there's always real work going on in at least one of them.

Alt-tabbing means you got something you really got to hide.

I use to walk around my office a lot. Most people left their browsers open, and I just said "meh, shouldn't be doing that, whatever". Now, when I saw people alt-tab, it was like alarm bells went off, and the person started panicking cause they had nothing they were actually working on.
